At Texas Health School, we believe that every student deserves an equal opportunity to achieve their educational goals, regardless of their financial situation. Our programs of grants and loans are aimed at providing eligible students with the financial support they need to pursue their careers in nursing or allied health.
Texas Health School meets the eligibility criteria to participate in select Federal Title IV programs. While the primary responsibility of educational costs lies with the individual student and their families, Financial Aid funds are available to provide additional support for covering these expenses.
We encourage all students to apply for tuition assistance. In cases where students fail to qualify for financial aid or do not desire to apply for educational loans, they have the option of paying their tuition fees in monthly installments to the school. Payment arrangements can be made with the Financial Aid Office.
*Final tuition payment is due prior to starting clinicals and/or externships for non-nursing programs and before graduation for nursing programs.

To begin the application process, complete a Texas Health School Financial Aid Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can accomplish this at our Financial Aid Office or online: Home | Federal Student Aid.
Student eligibility is determined by our Financial Aid Representative, who reviews completed applications and other relevant financial paperwork. The Financial Aid Representative utilizes a needs analysis system at the time of the student’s interview to determine if they are eligible to receive financial aid. They are also available to explain available funds and discuss tuition payment plans with students.
*We highly recommend that applicants complete their financial aid package early to ensure that they receive their funds in a timely manner.
Financial need is the difference between the total cost of attending school and the amount that the student and/or their family can afford to contribute towards tuition. The Expected Family Contribution calculation is used to determine the amount that the student can contribute towards covering educational expenses.
The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is determined through the Federal Need Analysis calculation formula, which is mandated by the U.S. Congress. The EFC is calculated based on the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and reported on the Student Aid Report (SAR) which is sent to the student by the federal processor.
*Students who demonstrate financial need will be considered for financial assistance. However, financial aid may not cover the entire cost of attendance. Students may be required to provide monthly payments towards meeting the cost of their education.
Texas Health School participates in the Federal Pell Grant Program (FPELL) and the Federal Direct Student Loan Program. In addition to the information listed, a detailed description of these programs is provided in the Federal Student Guide and is available through the Financial Aid Office at Texas Health School or online at the U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid website: https://studentaid.gov/
The Pell Grant is not a loan and therefore requires no repayment. The Federal grant program is for any eligible undergraduate student pursing a post-secondary education. The amount of the award is determined by demonstrated financial need, program length, and available federal funding levels. (Refer to the Federal Student Guide)
Direct Subsidized Federal Loans
Direct Subsidized Loans are based on financial need. The Federal government pays the interest on the loan while the student is attending school at least half-time and during deferment periods. Repayment is required to begin six months after the student completes or terminates their education or becomes less than a half-time student.
Direct Unsubsidized Loans
Direct Unsubsidized Loans are not based on financial need, and the student is responsible for interest during in-school and deferment periods. Repayment is required to begin six months after the student completes or terminates their education or becomes less than a half-time student. Interest does accrue during the deferment period.

*Before starting school, students who will be receiving aid from alternate sources such as the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Texas Workforce Solutions – Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWS-VRS), or other sources, must provide the agency’s authorization for the funding.
